Section 38: Extension in service

Extension in service may be allowed to the Officers of the Centralised Services up to the age of 62 years for special reasons to be recorded by the Government:

Provided that no extension of service shall be granted:

(i) for any period exceeding one year at a time;

and

(ii) unless the Officer concerned is physically fit and efficient.

39. Notwithstanding anything contained in these rules, where the Government is satisfied that the operation of any of the provisions of these rules causes undue hardship in any particular case it may be order dispense with or relax the requirements of that provision to such extent and subject to such conditions as it may consider necessary for dealing with the case in a just and equitable manner.
