Section 42: Allocation of Members of Service to Hill Sub-Cadre

(1) The existing members of the Centralised Services serving on the posts mentioned in Column II of Schedule IV shall be required by the Appointing Authority to exercise their option within three months from the date of commencement of the Uttar Pradesh Palika and Jal Sansthan Water Works Engineering (Cen- tralised) Services Rules, 1996 for allocation to Palika and Jal Sansthan Hill Sub-Cadre or for continuing in the General Cadre.

(2) Option once exercised shall be final and irrevocable.

(3) In case no option is exercised within the time specified in sub-rule (1), it shall be deemed that the member of the Centralised Service wants to remain in the General Cadre and does not want his allocation to the Palika and Jal Sansthan Hill Sub-Cadra.

(4) The appointing authority shall prepare a list of persons, who have exercised their option for allocation to the Palika and Jal Sansthan Hill Sub-Cadre, in accordance with the seniority of the persons as it stood in the Centralised Service.

(5) Allocation of persons to the Palika and Jal Sansthan Hill Sub-Cadre shall be named by the appointing authority in the order in which their names appear in the list prepared under sub-rule (4), and if the number of persons in such list is larger than the number of posts the persons in excess of posts shall be placed in waiting list and shall be allocated to the Palika and Jal Sansthan Hill Sub-Cadre as and when vacancies occur therein.
