Section 16: Inquiry into claims and objections

(1) The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer shall hold a summary- inquiry into every application in respect of which notice has been given under Rule 15 and shall record his decision thereon.

(2) At the hearing, the person to whom such notice was issued and any other person who, in the opinion of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, is likely to be of assistance to hirm, shall be entitled to appear and to be heard.

(3) The Assistant Electoral Registration Officer may in his discretion,— (@) require any person to whom such notice has been issued to appear in person before him;

(b) require that the evidence tendered by any person shall be given on oath and may administer oath for the purpose.
