Section 262: Procedure in cases filed in district courts

Where an application or probate or letters of administration is made to any court, other than he High court of Judicature at Allahabad or the Chief Court of Oudh the Court shall send to the Collector along with the notice prescribed by Section 19-H (1) of the Court Fees Act, a copy of the valuation of the property) of the deceased in the form prescribed by Section 19-J (1) of the Act, if the valuation is filed at the same time as the application or, if the valuation is filed at a subsequent date, as soon as the same is filed. This is to relieve the Collector of the necessity of sending a subordinate to the court concerned o inspect or take a copy of the record of the case.
