The Uttarakhand Fisheries Rules,2003State Rules of Uttarakhand · 2003

(1) These rules may be called the Uttarakhand State Water Management, Fisheries and Fish Stocking Rules , 2003.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Uttarakhand.

(3) It shall come into force at once.

Definitions 2. (1) In these rules, unless there is anything otherwise required in the subject or context-

(1) “Act”means the Uttarakhand Fisheries Act,2003;

(2) “Beat” shall have the meaning which is fixed in these rules as determined limited area for fishing ;

(3) “Director”means Director,Fisheries Uttarakhand;

(4) “Pond”means jheel,pond,Johad,Puddle etc.;

(5) “Weighing centre” means the place fixed by the director or any person authorised on his behalf, where the caught fish are stocked;

(6) “License” means the license issued to the executive Institution/ Units of Fishery department/ other related departments under these rules;

(7) “Permit” means the permission of angling/ fishing issued by the competent institution/person/officer under these 2 rules;

(8) “Angling”means fish sports/fishing;

(9) “Appendix”means the appendix annexed with these rules;

(10) “Trout waters” means such stretches of river or streams where trout fish is being developed;

(11) “Mahseer waters” means such stretches of rivers or streams and jheels where mahseer fish is as main fish;

(12) “General waters (hilly area)” means such stretches of river or streams of hilly area which is for snow trout and not main stretches for mahseer;

(13) “Major carp waters (plain area)” means such stretches of river or streams and pond of plain area where the fisheries of Indian Major Carp species are as main fish;

(14) “Year”means financial year;

(15) “State” means State of Uttarakhand.
