In any case in which the land has been sold, if the Court shall be of opinion that the claim of the claimant is established, the Court shall not award the claimant possession of the land in dispute; but shall order him to receive from [the State Government] Treasury, by way of compensation, a sum equal to the price at which the land was sold, in addition to the costs of suit.
