(1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Backward Classes Development and Finance Corporation Act, 1995.
(2) It extends to the whole of West Bengal.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification, appoint.

(a) "backward classes" means such classes as the State Government may, by notification, specify from time to time;
(b) "the Corporation" means the West Bengal Backward Classes Development and Finance Corporation established undef section 3;
(c) "marketing" includes all activities in connection with the transport, grading, pooling, marketing and sale of industrial produce, whether in the primary form or in semi-processed or processed form;

(d) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette;
(e) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act;
(1) "traditional occupation" means a community based occupation followed by the backward classes.
