West Bengal Act IV of 1947 t- THE WEST BENGAL DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARDS ACT,

1947. [Passed by the PrIst Bengal Legislature.] [Assent dthe Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, .of the 30th December, 1947.] iv An Act to provide for the dissolution and nstitntion of . certain district schoo4 boards. WHEREAS under the award of the Boundary Commission parts of the districts of Jalpaiguri, Malda, Nadia and Dinajpur have been ,excluded from the Province of West Bengai ; AND WHEREAS the new districts of Itmvadwip:-, West Dinajpur, Malda and Jalpaiguri have ben constituted Comprising respectively the parts of the former :districts of Nadia, Dinajpur, Malda and Jalpaiguri which have been included within est Bengal under the said award; AND Willi:MA S it is expedient to provide for the dissolution and constitution of certain district school boards; ,It is hereby enacted as follows :-

1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal District Short title School Boards Act, 1947. and

(2) It shall come into force on the date on which the co mencein- West Ben. West Bengal District School Boards Ordinance, 1947, ceases ment. Ord. XII to operate. -of 1947.

2. In this Act, the expression "Boundary Commission" -• means qthe Boundary Commission referred to in the Indian Definition. 10 & 11, Independence Act, 1947. 'Geo. VI,

3. Notwithstanding anything contained in the Bengal_ Ben. Act (Rural) Primary Education Act, 19n, or in any other law ,tion of. 4. (I) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Bengal Constitu-(Rural) Primary Education Act,' 1930, or in any other law tion of for the time being in force, the Provincial Government may, certain by notification in the Official Gazette, constitute district district school boards of the districts of 11T.ay.a,c1wip,i West Dinajpur, boards l Malda and Jalpaiguri in such manner and consisting of such number of members as it may determine in this behalf. • (2) The district school boards constituted under subsection (/) shall be deemed to have been constituted on and from the date on which the award of the Boundary Commission carne into force.
