The West Bengal Land Holding Revenue Act, 1979State Act of West Bengal · Act 44 of 1979

(1) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, there shall be levied and collected for every agricultural year an amount of revenue calculated on the total rateable value of the land holding of a raiyat at the rate or rates specified in the Schedule.

(2) Notwithstanding anything conta ned in sub-section (1) the revenue shall not be levied or collected—

(a) in a case where the total rateable value of a land holding of a raiyat does not exceed five thousand rupees; or

(b) in respect of any land holding of the Central Government, State Government, any local authority or any institution as the State Government may, by notification, specify in this behalf.
