All materials, fittings, appliances, etc. used in Lift, Escalator or Travelator and its installations shall conform to the relevant specifications ofthe Bureau of Indian Standard or equivalent International Standards wherever they exist and all such materials fittings, appliances, etc., used in Lift, Escalator or Travelator, shall bear thereupon appropriate BIS seal ofcertification. In cases ofmaterials forwhich Indian Standard do not exist, the materials shall be ofapproved workmanship and quality. The various guidelines prescribed by the Bureau Indian Standard in this regard shall also be followed by the person to whom they are applicable.
