(1) the State Government shall constitute a Lift Committee (hereinafter mentioned as "the Committee") for carrying out the purposes of registration ofpersons or firms for erection and maintenance ofLifts, Escalator or Travelator and for grant of authorization to the Attendant.
(2) The Committee shall consist of following members
(i) The Chief Electrical Inspector
(ii) An Inspector ofLifts/Deputy ChiefElectrical/Joint ChiefElectrical Inspector to the Government ofWest Bengal to be nominated by the State Government.
(iii) A Deputy ChiefElectrical/ Joint ChiefElectrical Inspector to the Government to be nominated by the State Government.
(iv) At least four persons who have technical knowledge and are conversant with the construction and maintenance ofLifts and Escalator or Travelators, representing makers or suppliers ofLifts and Escalator or Travelators to be nominated by the State Government.
Chairman-Ex officio;
Member-Secretary;
Member;
Members.
(3) The term of appointment ofmembers other than the ex officio Chairman and the Member- Secretary to the Committee shall be three years.
(4) Ifa member leaves the State or is absent there from for a continuous period ofmore than six months, another person may be appointed in place of such member for the unexpired portion of such member's term.
(5) The Committee shall have power to act not withstanding any vacancy in its membership.
