Section 78: Relaxation ofRules

The West Bengal Lift, Escalator And Travelator Rules, 2022State Rules of West Bengal · 2019

(1)Notwithstanding anything contained in any ofthese Rules, the ChiefElectrical Inspector or the Inspector of Lifts on consultation with the State Government by an order in writing, and subject to such conditions as he may think fit to impose, relax the provisions ofany ofthese Rules to such extent as, in his opinion, may not be applicable to such Lift, Escalator or Travelator.

(2) In case ofLift, Escalator or Travelator, operated by power other than electricity, the ChiefElectrical Inspector or the Inspector ofLifts on consultation with the State Government, by an order in writing, relax the provision ofthese Rules to such extent as, in his opinion are inconsistent or are not applicable to such Lift, Escalator or Travelator, such Lift, Escalator or Travelator, must, however, comply with such instructions as may be issued in this behalfby the Inspector ofLifts with the approval ofthe ChiefElectrical Inspector.

(3) Every relaxation granted hereinabove shall be subject to disallowance or revision by the State Government.
