(1) A Health Officer shall exercise within the area under his jurisdiction the powers conferred on him and perform the duties imposed upon him by or under this Act, and such other powers and duties consistent with the objects of this Act as the State Government or the Board concerned may, by general or special order, specify.

(Chapter M.—Duties of owners and occupiers of lands, buildings or structures in mining settlements.— Sertion 15.)
(2) A Sanitary Inspector shall, in respect of any area within the mining settlement for which he has been appointed. be subordinate to the Health Officer having jurisdiction over such area and shall perform' such duties and exercise such powers cis may he conferred upon him by or under this Act, or as may be delegated to him by the nealth Officer with the consent of the Board concerned.
(3) Every Health Officer or Sanitary Inspector or such other officer of a Board as may be specified in this behalf by the State Government may, within the area over which he has jurisdiction,—
(a) make such inquiries as he may think fit in order to ascertain whether the provisions of this Act and of the rules, by-laws and orders made thereunder are observed
(b) enter, with such assistants (if any) as he may think fit, and inspect any place within such area at all reasonable times by day or by night;
(e) make inquiries regarding the sanitary condition of such area; and
(d) do all things, necessary for the due discharge of the duties imposed upon him by or under tine Act.
