Section 22

The West Bengal Public Libraries Act, 1979State Act of West Bengal · Act 39 of 1979

(1) Whoever contravenes any provision of this Act or of any rules made thereunder shall, if no other penalty is provided therefor in any other Act, be punishable with fine which may extend to two hundred and fifty rupees or if having been previously convicted of such offence is again convicted of an offence under this Act, with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees.

(2) No court shall take cognizance of any offence under this Act except on a written complaint made by the Director or by any person authorised by the Director in this behalf.
