(1) No suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against a person in the service of Government or any person acting under the direction or order of or in aid or assistance of any person in the service of Government for or on account of or in respect of any act, matter or thing whatsoever, which even though the West Bengal Security Act, 1948, was not in force, was purported to have been done in pursuance of or under the said Act at any time between the expiry of the said Act and the publication of the West Bengal Security Ordinance, 1949, in the Official Gazette or which even though the Wrest Bengal Security Ordinance, 1949, was not in. force, was purported to have been done in pursuance of or under the said Ordinance at any time between the ceasing to be in force of the said Ordinance and the publication of this.

(2) No suit or other legal proceeding shall lie against Government for or on account of or in respect of any act, matter or thing whatsoever, which even though the West Bengal Security Act, 1948, was not in force, was purported to have been done in pursuance of or under the said Act at ally time between the expiry of the said Act and the publication of the West Bengal Security Ordinance, 1949, in the Official Gazette or which even though the West Bengal Security Ordinance, 1949, was not in force, was purported to have been done in pursuance of or under the said Ordinance at any time between the ceasing to be in force of the said Ordinance and the publication of this Act in the Official Gazette.
(3) Sub-sections (1) and (2) shall have effect notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any other law for the time being in force.
