(1) Subject to rules made under this Act, any of the officers or servants referred to in section 27 may, by notice, require any person to make and deliver to him a statement or to produce records or documents in his possession or control relating to any land or other property mentioned in that section, at the time and the place specified in the notice.
(2) Every person required to make or deliver a statement or to produce any record or document under this section shall be deemed legally bound to do so within the meaning of sections 175 and 176 of the Indian Penal Code. 45 of 1860..
29. For the purposes of any inquiry under this Act the Collector and the Project Authority shall have power to summon and enforce the attendance of witnesses, including the persons interested or any of them, and compel the production of documents by the same means and, so far as may be, in the same manner as is provided in the case of a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
