[Passed by the West Bengal _Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcotta Gazelle, Extraordinary, of the 11th August, 1969.1 [ 11th August, 1969.] An :4.et to amend the 'West Bengal Zilla Parishads Act, 1963. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Zilla Parishads Act, 1963, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Twentieth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as
1. This Act may be called the West Bengal Zilla Short title. Parishads (Amendment) Act, 1969.
2. After section 1.09 of the West Bengal Zilla Parishads Act, 1963 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the following section shall be inserted, namely:— or any o reason a Zilla Parishad or an Anchalik. Parishad is unable to function, until it is reconstituted in accordance with the provisions of this Act, the State Government may, by order, appoint a person to act as the Administrator for the Zilla Parishad or the Anchalik Parishad, as the ease may be. "Appointment of an Administrator where Zilits Parishad or Anchalik Parishad unable to function for defect of constitution, etc.

(2) When an order has been made under sub-section (1) appointing an Administrator in respect of a Zilla. Parishad or an Anchalik Parishad, then with effect from the date of the order— all members and associate members of the Zilla Parishad or the Anchalik Parishad and members of the Standing Committees thereof shall vacate their respective offices;
(b) all the powers, duties and functions which may by or under this Act or any other. law for the time being in force, be exercised and performed by the Zilla Parishad or the Anchalik Parishad or any Standing Committee thereof or by the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of the Zilla Parishad or the President or Vice-President of the Anchalik Parishad shall be exercised and performed by the Administrator in such manner and under such conditions as the State Government may direct.
(3) The appointment of an, Administrator under subsection (.1) in respect of a Zilla Parishad. or an Anchalik Parishad shall terminate on the completion of the reconstitution of the Zilla Parishad or the Anchalik Parishad, as the case may be.
(4) The State Government may fix a remuneration for the Administrator appointed under sub-section (I) and direct that such remuneration shall be paid. from the Zilla Parishad fund or the Anchalik Parishad fund, as the case may be.".
3. (1) The West Bengal Zilla Parishads (Amendment) Ordinance, 1969, is hereby repealed.
(2) Anything done or any action taken under the said Act, as amended by the West Bengal Parishads (Amendment) Ordinance,1969, shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken uner the said Act as amended. by this Act as if this Act bad commenced on the 19th day of April, 1969.
