WHEAT ATTA GRADING AND MARKING RULES Short title, application and commencement-
(1) These rules may he called the Wheat Atta Grading and Marking Rules, 1993.
(2) They shall apply to Wheat atta produced in lndia.
(3) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
Definitions-4n these ruics, unless the context otherwise requires,-
(tt) "Agricultural Marketing Adviser" means the Agricuihunl Marketing Adviser to the Govt of Ludia.
(a) " Authorised packer" means a person or a body or persons who has been granted a certificate of authorisation to grade and mark what atta in accordance with the grade standards and procedures prescribed in these rules;
(c) "Certificate of Authorisation" mounts a certificate issued under the General Grading and Marking Rules, l988 authorizing a person ‘or a body of persons to grade and mark wheat atta with the grade designation mark:
(d) "Wheat ma" means the whole-meal wheat Atta produced by n process in which the Suji and Maids are not extracted:
(e) “Schedule" means Schedule appended to these rules.
Grade designations-V- The grade designations to indicate the quality of wheat atta shall he as set out in column 1 of the Schedule 1. u Definition of quality: The quality indicated by the grade designations shall be as set out against each grade designation in column 2 to 9 of the Schedule 1.
Grade designation mark.- The grade designation mark shall consist of m—
(i) a label specifying name of commodity. grade designation and bearing a design consisting of an outline map of India with the word “AGMARK” and the figure of the rising sun with the words "Produce of india‘ and “811m UNI?” resembling the mark as set out in Schedule II or.
(ii) "Agmark Replica" consisting < of dcsign incorponlirrg the number of certitimte of authorisation, the word “AGMARK' name of commodity and grade designation, resembling the one as set out in Schedule II (A):
Provided that the use of Agmark replica in lieu of Agmark label ‘will he allowed only to such authorised packer who has been granted necessary permission uni application in writing. by the Agricuhural Marketing Adviser or an officer duly authorised in this regard and subject to the conditions as may be specified from time to time.
Method of packing- 1
(i) Wheat aria shall be packed in new, sound, cleml and dry containers such as cloth bags, jute bags, polywoven bags or packages made of canvas/ hcssianlpaper laminated with polyethylene or poiy or poiyprcpylene or any other containers as may be approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorised in this regard.
(2) The containers shall not be composed, wholly or partly, or any poisonous or deleterious substances which will tender the contents injurious to health,
(3) The containers shall be free from insect infestation, fungus contamination or any undesirable smell. ,
(4) Each packaged shall contain wheat atta of one grade only. Suitable number of slnail packs containing graded material of the same lot and grade designation may be packed in a large master container provided that all such packages shall bear appropriate grade designation mark and pmiculars therdof shall be indicated on the label affixed to the mhster container.
(5) Each package/domains! shall be securely closed in the manner} prescribed by the‘ Agricultural ' Marketing Adviser or an officer authorised in this regard 1 Method of marking L
(l) The grade designation mark shall be securely affixed to or pridted on each container in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an ofiicer authorised in this regard.
(2) In addition to ‘lhe grade designation mark, the following particulars shall be clearly and indelible marked on each container:- ' l i
(i) Name and business address of the authorized packer;
(ii) Place of packing;
(iii) Lot number andiGradc;
(iv) Date of packing“;

(i) The Certificate of authorisation shall be granted t mills (CI-IAKKIS), the word ‘CHAKKI‘ should be stamped on the container.

(3) An authorised packer may, after obtaining prior approval of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorised in this regard, mark his 3 private trade mark or trade brand label on the container provided that the private made snark, trade brand labial does not represent quality or grade different from that indicated by the g.utie designation mark affixed on the container ’s accordance with these rules.
