(a) The Electoral Registration Officer, on application made to him or on his own motion, if satisfied after such inquiry as he thinks fit, that any entry in the electoral roll is erroneous or defective in any particulars of the elector or should be deleted name of- any elector on the ground that the elector concemed is dear or has ceased to be ordinarily njsident of the concemed is dead or has ceased to be ordinarily resident of the concemed Gram Panchayat constituency or is otherwise not entitled to be registered in concemed electoral roll of any Gram Panchayat constituency, the Electoral Registration Officer shalt, subject to such general or special directions, if any, as may be given by the Election Commission in this behalf. amend or delete the entry. provided that befbre taking any aelion on any ofthe grounds mentioned above, the Electoral Registration Officer shall give the person concemed a reasonable opportunity ofbeing heartl in respect ofthi action p;oposed to be takeniin the case of such applicdnt.
