The Assam Irrigation Water Users Act, 2004State Act of Assam · Act 5 of 2005

(1) The Government may, by notification and in accordance with the rules made under this Act in this behalf, delineate every command area or par t thereof of an irrigation system and decla re it to be a project area for the pu rpose of this Act.

(2) There shall be a Project Committee called by its distri ct name for every project area declared under sub-section (I).

(3) All the Presidents of the Distributary Committee in the project area, so long as they hold such office, shall const itute the General Body for the Project Committee. The Project Comm ittee shall have two nominated members one of whom shall act as a coordinator between various departm ents and farmers' org ani sat ion and shall be an Executive Engineer of Irrigation Departm ent and the second member shall act as advisor who shall be from Agr icul ture Depar tment in the rank of Dis trict Agricul tural Officer. The nominated members shall not have right to vote.
