Section 2: Definitions

Unless otherwise required in the subject or context, in these Rules –

(i) ‘Government’ means Bihar State Government;

(ii) ‘Department’ means Health Department;

(iii) ‘Commission’ means Bihar Public Service Commission;

(iv) ‘Appointing Authority’ means Governor of Bihar;

(v) ‘Service’ means Bihar Food Safety Service;

(vi) ‘Cadre’ means Food Safety Cadre and Food Analyst Cadre;

(vii) ‘Act’ means The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (Central Act 34 of 2006);

(viii) ‘Rules’ means Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011;

(ix) ‘Appendix’ means appendix appended to these Rules;

(x) ‘Central Examination Committee’ means the Central Examination Committee under the Board of Revenue, Bihar; and

(xi) ‘Commissioner of Food Safety’ means the Commissioner of Food Safety as defined under the Act.
