The Central Government may appoint such persons as it considers to be suitable as officers in the Force, and their conditions of service shall be such as may be provided in the rules made in this behalf by the Central Government.
2 [10. Probation.- (1)3[An officer, subordinate officer or underofficer]on first appointment to the Force shall be on probation for a period of two years and the Central Government in the case of officers and the authority prescribed in rule 11 in the case of
1. Rule-7 subs S.O.188(E) dated 13th Mar 1993.
2. Subs by S.O. 2628(E) dated 25th Nov 2011. 3. The word “against a permanent post” in sub rule 1 of rule 10 shall be deleted by SO 188(E) dated 13th Mar 1993.
BSF RULES 69 subordinate officers and under-officers may, for reasons to be recorded in writing, extend the period of probation for such further period or periods not exceeding one year.
(2) The Central Government in the case of officers and the prescribed authority in the case of subordinate officers or underofficers, as the case may be, may, during the period of probation, terminate the services of such persons without assigning any reasons.
(3) The provisions of sub-rule (1) shall also be applicable to a person on his initial promotion as an officer and the person who does not complete the period of probation satisfactorily may be reverted to his former rank.]
