Section 7: In the said rules, after rule 104 (C), the following rule shall be inserted, namely

"104 D. Fitment of rear marking plate The following categories of vehicles, manufactured on and after the 1st April, 2015, shall be fitted with rear marking plate, conforming to AIS 089-2005, as amended from time to time, tiII such time the corresponding Bureau of Indian Standards specifications are notified under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986 (63 of 1986):-

(a) N2 with gross vehicle weight exceeding 7.5 ton and N3 with the exception of tractors for semi trailers;

(b) trailers and semi-trailers having gross weight not exceeding 10 ton and whose length exceeds 8m;

(c) trailers having gross weight exceeding 10 ton; and

(d) articulated buses".
