A person-(I) Appointed to any post. in the senice of the Board shall i'f~mainon probation for a period of two year~. if recruited by direct appointment aI1dfor a period ofone year. if appointed otherwise:
Provided that.-
(a) any period. after such appointment. spent on deputation on a corresponding or a higher post shall count towards the peliod of probat ion:
(b) In the case of any appointmenl by transfer. any period of work on a post ofequivalent or higher rank. plior to appointment to the post ill a service may. at the discrption of the appointing allthority, be allowed to ('OUllt towarcis the period spent on probation:

(d) Any kind of leave not exceeding six months during or after the end of the pel probation. shall be counted towards the peliod of probation.
8.2. If, in the opinion of the appointing authority, the work and condu'or af during the peliod of probation is not satisfactory or if he has failed to pass the departr examination, if any, prescribed under these rules within a period not exceeding two an years from the date ofappointment, it may,-
(a) If such a person is recfilited by direct recruitment dispense with his service or him to a post on which he held lien prior to his appointment to a service by recruitment; and
(b) If such person is recruited otherwise,-
(i) revert him to his former post; ••
(ti) deal with him in such other manner as the terms and conditions of his pr appointment permit.

8.3. On the completion of the period of probation of a person, the appointing au' I t
(a) Ifhis work or conduct has, in its opinion, been satisfactory,-
(i) . confirm, subject to availability of vacancy, such person from the date appointment. or from the date he completes his period of probation satisfal if he is not already confirmed :
(ii) declare that he has complcted his probation satisfactorily if hc is a confirmed:
