Section 17: Basic date

Coast Guard (Seniority and Promotion) Rules,1987Central Rules · 1978

All personnel on joining the Coast Guard Service shall be allocated a basic date. This shall be the date on which an individual is called upon to report to the Coast Guard ship/authority or the date on which he actually reports or the date of commencement of training whichever is later. The basic date shall be used for determining his service in the Coast Guard.
