Section 33: Number of chances in Departmental examination

(1) On completion of half the time stipulated for service in that rank, enrolled personnel may be nominated for professional courses. Normally an individual may be given three chances to qualify in a professional course and in exceptional cases a fourth chance may be given at the discretion of the Director-General.

(2) An enrolled person who fails in higher rank professional/specialist qualification course should not normally be sent to undergo the same or any other specialist qualifications course until a period of one year has elapsed since the date of completion of the course in which he failed or from which he has been withdrawn.
