Section 18: Prohibition of dowry

University Employees (Conduct) RegulationsState Regulations of Haryana · 2008

(1) No University employee shall─

(i) give or take or abet the giving or taking of dowry; or

(ii) demand, directly or indirectly, from the parents or guardian of a bride or bridegroom, as the case may be , any dowry.

Explanation.─ For the purposes of this regulation, “dowry” has the same meaning as in the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 (28 of 1961), as amended in its application to the State of Haryana.

(2) Every University employee after his marriage shall furnish a declaration to his Head of Department that he has not taken any dowry. The 66 declaration shall be signed by his wife, father and father-in-law.
