Section 52: Constitution of a Tribunal for certain purposes

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Land Acquisition Act 1894 (Act of 1894) the Government may constitute tribunal for the purpose of performing the functions of the court with reference to the acquisition of land for the Board under the said Act to and for deciding such other matters as may be prescribed.

(2) The Tribunal shall consist of one member only who shall be a judicial officer not below the rank of a District Judge appointed by the government in this behalf.

(3) The Tribunal shall have the same powers as are vested in a civil court under the code f civil procedure, 1908 (Act 5 of 1908).

(4) The proceeding before the tribunal shall be deemed to be judicial proceedings within the meaning of sections 193 228 of the India Penal Code (Act 45 of 1839).
