Section 4: Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioner

(1) Subject to such terms and conditions as may be prescribed, the State Government may appoint an Officer not below the rank of a Group 'A' Senior Scale to be Deputy Commissioner for Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments for one or more districts. The Deputy Commissioner shall subject to the authority of the Commissioner 1[and subject to the powers and jurisdiction of Zilla Dharmika Parishat]1 have powers of general superintendence and control for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Act in respect of all Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments in his Jurisdiction.

(2) The State Government may appoint an Officer not below the rank of Group-A Junior scale to be Assistant Commissioner for Hindu Religious Institutions and charitable Endowments for one or more taluks in a district to assist the Deputy Commissioner in the discharge of his duties and functions under this Act, and to perform such duties or exercise such powers as may be conferred on him 1[and subject to the powers and jurisdiction of Zilla Dharmika Parishat]1 by or under the provisions of this Act or as may be delegated to him by the Deputy Commissioner with the approval of the Commissioner.
