Section 76: Rent payable by kud1kzdappukaran

( 1) All arrears of rent, if any, payable by a kudikidappukaran on the date of the commence­ ment of this Act, whether the same be payable under any law, custom or contract or under a decree or order of court, shall be deemed to be fully discharged if he pays one year's rent or the actual amount in arrears, whichever is less.

(2) On and after the commencement of this Act, notwithstand­ ing any contract, decree or order of court, a kudikidappukaran shall not be required to pay more than Six rupees yearly as rent in respect of his kudikidappu which i~ not Situated within the limits of any municipal corporatiOn or any mumcipality :

Provided that a kudikidappukaran who was not liable to pay any rent in respect of his kudik1dappu Immediately before the com­ mencement of this Act shall not be liable to pay any rent ; nor shall a kudikidappukaran be hable to pay any rent in excess of that which he was paying before the commencement of this Act.
