(1) When a survey is ordered untler section 4, the survey olticer shall publish a notilication in the preseribed manner inviting all persons having any interest in the - land the survey ol which has been orderetlor in tltc houndaties of such land, to attend either in person or hy ajtent at a specilied place and time and from time to tinitt therertftcr wIren callctl upon for the purpose of pointing out boundaiies and supplying information in connection therewith.

(b) "cowlcdar" incans a person who bas been or is granted ii lease of pandaram land on rent for a specified period, 011e of the condition of such lease bcing that Ile makcs improvements thereto;
(c) "Islands" means Union territory of the Laccadivel • Minicoy and Amindivi Islancis;
(d) "Land-owner" means a person—
(i) who is the proprietor of a parcel of land under the customary law of the Islands; or
(ii) who is shown at holding land as lessee thereof in the Government accounts; or 1
(iii) who is shown as holding pandaram land as owner ot as a cowledar in the Government aecounts; or •
(iv) whose pante is registered as owner in any registel maintained by the Administrator or by any of his assistants authorised b' him in this behalf;
(e) "pandaram land" mcans land in which Government has t proprietary right;
(f) "preseribed" incans prescribcd by rules made under th-i , !

(g) "survey" includes all operations incidental to the dete:
mination, measurement and record of a boundary, or any part of boundary and includes a re-survey;
(h) "survey mark" nicans any mark or object ci. .ctcci, madl.
employcd or specificd by a survey ollicer to indicate or i.1 ::terrnine or assi in determining the position or level or any point or points;

(2) A notification published undcr sub-section (I) shall be field to be a valid notice to every person having intcrest in 1.11c land the survey of which has been ordered or in the boundaries of such land.
