Section 5: Requirements to be complied with by sponsoring body after issuance of Letter of Intent

In addition to the requirements mentioned in sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Act, the Government may ask the sponsoring body to,-

(i) furnish documents about the land and constructed area issued by competent authorities as specified in rule 6.

(ii) furnish an undertaking that the university shall provide 50% exemption in the fee to a minimum of 10% students belonging to economically weaker section, irrespective of their caste.

(iii) furnish an undertaking to follow the standards of the respective regulatory bodies and to fulfil such other conditions as may be prescribed by the University Grants Commission or any other regulatory body established by law;

(iv) purchase knowledge resources including books, e-books, and journals of a minimum amount of rupees fifty lakhs or more as may be prescribed by the norms of the regulatory body;

(v) furnish an undertaking to invest a minimum amount of rupees one crore or more towards the purchase of computer hardware and software, setting up information and communication networks and providing adequate facilities for teaching, learning, and research, as may be prescribed by the norms of the respective regulatory bodies, before operationalisation of the university;

(vi) furnish an undertaking to invest a minimum amount of rupees one crore or more towards the purchase of laboratory equipment and furniture, as may be prescribed by the norms of the respective regulatory bodies, before operationalisation of the university;

(vii) furnish information regarding financial projections including capital expenditure, recurring expenditure, loan repayment, internal fund generation, and mobilisation of resources for the first five years;

(viii) furnish information regarding proposed research and innovation;

(ix) furnish an undertaking that classrooms and other amenities for the students shall be as per the guidelines of the respective apex regulatory bodies;

(x) furnish a declaration that the information, facts, and figures provided in the detailed project report and subsequent compliance reports are true and correct and, if any information is found to be incorrect, the application is liable to be summarily rejected.

(xi) furnish any additional information as and when necessary.
