Section 4: Duties of Police, Designated Police and Special Juvenile Police Unit

Maharashtra Prohibition of Child Marriage Rules, 2022.State Rules of Maharashtra · 2007

The police, Designated Police and Special Juvenile Police Unit shall have the following duties:—

(a) to assist Child Marriage Prohibition Officers while performing their duties as specified under the Act and rules made thereunder in prohibiting solemnization of child marriages;

(b) on receipt of information about child marriage, the police shall record the same into station diary and collect evidence;

(c) to register First Investigation Report (FIR) on receiving information from reliable source about solemnisation of child marriage;

(d) to take immediate action under appropriate laws on receiving information from Child Marriage Prohibition Officer under these rules;

(e) in emergency situation, where child marriage likely to be solemnized, upon request of the Child Marriage Prohibition Officer assist him and visit the place of occurrence such marriage;

(f) to take action as per the orders of the Court.
