Section 7: Age verification of child involved in Child Marriage

Maharashtra Prohibition of Child Marriage Rules, 2022.State Rules of Maharashtra · 2007

(1) If the Child Marriage Prohibition Officer has reasonable doubt regarding the age of the child whose marriage is about to take place, he shall ask for the following documents:—

(a) verification of date of birth from the school record or matriculation or equivalent certificate from the concerned examination Board, if available and;

(b) in the absence of documents mentioned in clause (a) above, birth certificate given by Local Authority.

(2) If no documents are available, he may refer the matter to the Child Welfare Committee for the age verification.
