Section 5: Office, sittings and quorum of Grievance Redressal Committee

(1) (a) The designated office of the Apex Grievance Redressal Committee shall be located in the Administrative Building of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority, Greater Mumbai.

(b) The designated offices of the other Grievance Redressal Committees shall be located at such places as may be decided by the Chairperson and declared, by notification in the Official Gazette, by him.

(c) The Grievance Redressal Committee shall ordinarily sit on the working Saturdays or on any other day as may be decided by the Chairperson in consultation with the other Members. The Chairperson as and when required, shall distribute the administrative work of urgent nature between himself and the other Members.

(d) The Grievance Redressal Committee shall give sufficient and clear notice about its sittings of at least of 3 days, unless so directed by a Court of Law and shall communicate to parties concerned in person or by post or by fax or telephonically or by email and also by publishing it on the notice board of the respective Committee.

(2) The Registrar of the Grievance Redressal Committee shall, with the prior approval of the Chairperson, arrange the place, date and time for sittings of the said Committee for Admission or Hearing of Appeals or Final Hearing of Appeals and shall display it on the notice board of the respective Committee.

(3) All Members of the Grievance Redressal Committee shall remain present for a sitting of the said Committee. However, if a Member, for reasons of being deputed or away for Compulsory Training, Election Duty, Foreign Tour, etc. or such any other urgent official work or for any personal reasons is unable to attend a sitting of the said Committee, shall inform the same, in advance, to the Chairperson.

(4) The quorum in any sitting of the Grievance Redressal Committee shall be constituted by a majority of the Members including the Chairperson of the respective Grievance Redressal Committee.

(5) If for any reason the sitting of the Grievance Redressal Committee is cancelled or is delayed, the Registrar shall obtain the orders of the Chairperson and shall declare it appropriately. The Registrar shall unless otherwise directed, adjourn the cases posted for such sitting of the said Committee to a convenient date approved by the Chairperson. The adjourned notices shall thereupon be displayed by the Registrar on the notice board of the respective Committee.
