Section 453: Inspection of animals for sale

The Nagaland Municipal Act,2001State Act of Nagaland · Act 10 of 2001

1. The Chief Officer a Municipality shall make provision for inspection of all animals which are intended for human consumption and are in the course of transit or are exposed or hawked about or deposited in or brought to any place within the municipal area for sale or preparation for sale, as the case maybe.

2. If, as result of any inspection under sub-section (1), any prosecution is instituted under this Chapter, the burden of proving that any such animal was not exposed or hawked about or deposited in or brought to any place for sale or preparation for sale or was not intended for human consumption, shall rest with the person prosecuted.
