(1) All assessments and examinations for various academic programmes of the University, except for the evaluation of Ph.D. theses, shall be conducted internally:
Provided that the Members of the Faculty shall be free to have external evaluation in specific cases upon recommendation of the Board of Studies.
(2) All examinations shall be conducted under the direction of the Dean of the Schools and follow an examination schedule announced by the University.
(3) The Question papers for mid-semester and end-semester examinations, quizzes and practical examinations for the evaluation of students enrolled for various credit courses shall be prepared by the faculty teaching the respective courses from within the syllabus announced in the beginning of each semester.
Provided that questions may also be asked from any topic taught in the class that may not have been specifically stated in the course syllabus.
(4) No student shall be permitted to submit the required written papers, dissertations, projects etc. or sit for final semester evaluations unless he or she has furnished Clearance Certificate from the University along with receipts for all dues including examination fees, if any.
(5) The centralised examination time tables for mid-semester and end-semester examination shall be announced by the University’s Academic Office at the beginning of the semester.
(6) After the examination, answers shall be evaluated by the faculty who prepared the question papers and grades shall also be awarded by him or her.
Provided that the Dean may also request other members of the faculty with relevant expertise to evaluate the answer sheets or conduct oral examinations, in case the need arises.
(7) After the end of the semester, the Dean shall have all grades scrutinised by the Faculty Committee or a committee of other members of the faculty constituted for this purpose, before the notification of the grades.
(8) The University shall retain the graded answer sheets of students in safe custody for at least one year, in case there is a request for re-evaluation from any student.
(9) The students who have to reappear in an examination for improving his or her grade in a course shall have to apply to the Dean of School, in the Application Form prescribed for the purpose and shall pay a fee of rupees four hundred per course.
(10) The student shall be eligible to appear in the Semester Examination, if he or she has attended a minimum of seventy five per cent of the total classes held in the Semester.
(11) The results of the examination at the end of each semester shall be forwarded by the Dean’s office to the University administration.
(12) If a student is not satisfied with the examination result, he or she may request for a review of the result through the Academic Office.
(13) While making the review the Academic Office shall verify whether the examination script has been marked completely and all marks have been correctly transmitted to the Board of Examiners and it shall not involve marking an examination script second time.
(14) The University may review the answer scripts of semester-end examination but not other continuous assessment parameters.
(15) The application form for review, along with the prescribed fees of rupees four hundred, for a particular course shall be forwarded to Academic office within two weeks of declaration of result.
