Section 11: Enrolment of students

(1)Every student offered admission to a programme at the Institute shall submit to the academic office of the Institute within the stipulated time frame, such academic certificates and documents as may be required, failing which their candidature stands cancelled.

(2) Every student offered admission shall pay the tuition and other fees and deposits as notified by the Institute, within the stipulated time frame, failing which their candidature stands cancelled.

(3) Upon payment of fees and deposits and upon verification and submission of all mandatory documents, the Institute shall provide an Enrolment Number to the student.

(4) The Enrolment Number shall be the permanent reference number in all records ofthe Institute pertaining to the student concerned.

(5) The date of initial registration for B. Des.orM.Des.programme shall normally be the date on which the student formally registers for the respective course upon payment of fees. This date shall be construed as the date of joining the programme for all intents and purposes.

(6) The enrolment of a student may be terminated on disciplinary grounds, in accordance with the disciplinary rules of the Institute.

12. Tuition and Other Fees and Deposits - The prescribed tuition fees, other fees and deposits,except mess charges, as approved by the Governing Council, shall be payable by all students at the beginning of each academic year or semester as notified by the Institute.

13. Attendance, Absence and Leave for the students - (1) A student shall be required to have minimum attendance at all lectures; tutorials;studio work; workshop practice sessions; field work; seminars and such other interfaces as may be determined by the Academic Advisory Committee of the Institute from time to time.

(2) Any leave or absence other than for medical reasons shall require prior approvalof the Discipline Lead.

(3) Only such students who fulfill the minimum required attendance including approved leave of absence, if any, shall be eligible to appear for semester end Jury.

14. Students Disciplines- (1) Every student shall observe discipline and maintain decorum both inside and outside the campus and shall not indulge in any activity which may bring disrepute to the Institute.

(2) Every student shall observe the code of conduct as stipulated in the Academic Manual.

(3) Any act of indiscipline committed by a student shall be dealt with in accordance with the norms and procedure stipulated in the respective manuals or handbook.

15. Academic Calendar -The Activity Chairperson (Education) and Dean Ahmedabad Campus, in consultation with the Deans of the Institute Campuses and the Discipline Leads, shall prepare and finalise the Academic Calendar of teaching and research programmes at the Institute and its campuses prior to beginning of each academic year.
