The salary of the Chairperson shall be equivalent to the basic pay of the Secretary to the Government of India and dearness allowance and city compensatory allowance as admissible:
Provided that where the Chairperson is a retired person from the Central Government or a State Government or Union Territory Administration or Semi-Government body or public sector undertaking or a recognised research institution or any other autonomous or statutory body, the salary payable together with the pension or pensionary value of the terminable benefits or both received by him shall not exceed the basic pay of Secretary to the Government of India.".
