Section 46: Appointment of officers and inspection of irrigation works

The Odisha Irrigation Act, 1959.State Act of Odisha · Act 14 of 1959

(1) The State Government, or , subject to such rules as may be made under this Act, any officer so empowered in this behalf, may–

(a) appoint such officers with such designations, define the local limits of jurisdiction of such officers and assign to them respectively such powers and duties under this Act, as the State Government of such officer, may deem fit;

(b) invest any Government Officer in any department, either personally or in right of his office, or any other persons, with such powers, and impose upon him such duties, under this Act, as the State Government or such officer, may deem fit:

Provided that any assignment of, or investment with powers or duties may under this section may at any time be cancelled or varied by the authority who made it.

(2) The State Government shall have the power to direct in the manner prescribed the annual inspection of and submission of reports on all irrigation works in respect of their proper maintenance and repair.
