(8 ) appoint such committees, whether standing or temporary, as it deerns necessary for the proper discharge of the functions of the Board ;

(13) generally give effect to the provisioils of rhjs Act ; and
(14) exercise all the powers of thc University not otherwire pinovided for.
18. (1) The Academic Council shall consist of r h c ~ c z .
the following members, namely :- dcmic CounCiI.
(i) the Vice-Chancellor ;
(i i) the Deans of Faculfies ;
(iii) the Dean of Student Welfare ;
( i v ) the Heads of Departments or varicus Faculties;
( v ) the Dean of Research ; and
(vi) the Dean of Extension Education.
(2) The Vice-chancellor shall be the Chairman of the Academic Council and in bis absence any other member authorised by him shall act as the Chairman of the said Council.
19. ( 1 ) The Academic Council shall, subject to Powers and the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, have the ruRcLiDns or the poNer to make regulations providing for the courses Academic of study and shall have general control over teaching, COUnCa.
research and extension work of the University and sbaIl be responsible for maintenance of the standsrds thereof.
(6) The Dean shall be responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the work of the different departments in the Faculty.
(7) The manner of appointment and functions of the Dean shall be as may be prescribed.
21. (2) A, person who is a member of a11 authority of-the Un~versity as a representative of another body shall retain his seat on the University Authority so lon;r ; is he continues to be a member of the body by which he was nominated, appointed or elected and th;renfter till his successor assumes office.
