For the purpose of these rules, the quality and gmcral requirements ofpulses shall be as such given agxiust each grade designation from column 2 to 8 of Schedules - II, V, VIII, X,XlI,Xle, XV, XVII, XVIII, XIX and from column 2 to 9 of Schedules HI, EV, VI, VII, 1X. XI, XIV and XVI respectively,
5. Grade designatio- larkp The grade designation mark shall consist of :he design incorporating the certificate of authorisation number, the word 'AGMARK“, name of the commodity and grade designation resembling the one as set out in scheduled.
6, Method of packing (l) Pulses shall be packed in Emmy bags/jute bags, poly woven bags, poly pouches,cloth bags or other suitable packages which shall be clean, sound, flee from insect, fungal infestation and the packing material shall be as permitted under the Prevention ofFood Adulteraticn Rules, 1955‘
(2) Pulses shall be packed in containers which will safeguard the hygienic, nutrifioual, technological and organoleptie qualities of the products.
(3) The containers, including packaging material, shall be made of substances which are safe and suitable for their intended use. They should not impart any toxic substance or undesirable odour or flavour to the product.
(4) The net weight ofthe pulses in a package shall be 85 per the provision prescribed under the Standards of Weights and Mensrncs (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 1977.
(5) Each package shall contain pulses ofthe same type and of the same grade designation
(6) Each package shall be securely closed and sealed
7. Method of Markingz- (I) The guide designation marl; shallbesecurely afixed to or printed on each package in a manner approved by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser or an officer authorised by him on his behalf in accordance with rule 11 cfthe General Grading and Marking Rules, I988.

(2) In addition to the grade designation mark, following particulars shall he clearly and indelibly marked on each label or packagezn
(a) Name and address of the puker;
(13) Place ofpacking;
(c) Date of packing;
(d) Lot/batch number;
(e) Net Weight;
(0 Grade;
(g) Maximum retail Price (inclusive of aii taxes);
(is) Best before month year (3} The ink used for marking on packages shall be of such quality which may not contaminate the product
(4) The authorised packer, may. alter obtaining prior approval of the Agricultural Marketing Adviser 0r an officer authorised by him on his behaif, mark his private trade mark or trade brand on the graded packages provided that the same do not indicate quaiity other than that indicating by the grade designatian mark affixed to the graded packages in accordance with these rules
