Section 91: Responsible person

Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers ( (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2008.) Rules, 2008State Rules of Punjab · 1996

(1) Every employer, who undertakes excavation or tunnelling work at a construction site of a building or other construction work, shall appoint a responsible person for safe operation for such excavation or tunnelling work.

(2) Duties and responsibilities of the responsible person referred to in sub-rule (1), shall include,—

(a) to carry out smoothly such excavation or tunnelling work;

(b) to inspect and rectify any hazardous situation relating to such excavation or tunnelling work; and

(c) to take remedial measures to avoid any unsafe practice or conditions relating to such excavation or tunnelling work.

(3) The name and address of the responsible person referred to in subrule (1), shall be forwarded to the principal employer, if any, and to the Chief Inspector.
