(1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the Sponsoring Body with the consent o f the State Government for a period o f five years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall not be eligible for re appointment:
Provided that a chancellor shall notwithstanding the expiration o f his term continue to hold office until his successor enters upon the office.
(2) Any vacancy in the office o f Chancellor shall be filled within six months from the date o f such vacancy.
(3) The Chancellor shall , by virtue o f his office , be the head o f the University .
(4) The Chancellor shall, if p re se n t, preside at the m eetings o f the Board o f M anagement and at the convocation o f the University for conferring degrees, diplomas or other academic distinctions.
(6) The Chancellor shall have the following powers, nam ely:-
(a) To call for any information or record in connection with the affairs o f the University;
(b) To appoint the Vice-chancellor;
(c) To remove the Vice-chancellor in accordance with the provisions o f sub-section (8) o f section 13; and
(d) Such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes.
