Every person who is elected to be a [Chairperson or] member of any municipality shall before entering upon his duties as such make and subscribe before [an officer authorised by the State Government by a general or special order] for the purpose an oath or affirmation in the form prescribed below:- "I ........................ do solemnly sear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established & that I will loyally carry out the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter."
