Section 345: Signs of insanity in the prisoner

The Rajasthan Prisons Rules, 2022State Rules of Rajasthan · 1894

(1) In the event of any prisoner confined in any Jail exhibiting signs of insanity which, in the opinion of the Medical Officer, are not feigned, the Superintendent shall cause such prisoner to be kept under medical observation in a cell.

(2) If the prisoner mentally ill found to be, is,-

(a) an accused person under trial the Superintendent Jail shall report the circumstances to the concerned Court for necessary action under chapter XXV of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act No. 2 of 1974);

(b) a prisoner awaiting sentence of death, the Superintendent shall proceed as prescribed in these rules;

(c) a person detained or imprisoned under any order or sentence of any court, the Superintendent shall inform to the concerned court in which such order or sentence was passed, with a descriptive roll in the prescribed form.
