(1) If any convicted prisoner becomes insane after his admission to the Jail, a report regarding his case shall immediately be submitted by the Superintendent to the Head of Directorate of Prisons with the view of obtaining the orders of the State Government for his removal to a mental hospital.
(2) With this report shall be forwarded,-
(a) a history sheet prepared by the Medical Officer incorporating the information supplied by the magistrate;
(b) a certificate, signed by the Medical Officer of the prisoner’s insanity; and
(c) a certificate of the prisoner’s fitness for transfer.
Note: When mentally ill prisoners are certified to be violent, dangerous, suicidal, etc., a statement of actual facts should be entered in the certificate.
