Section 40: Duties of the Relieving Officer

On transfer of Superintendents, the relieving officer shall, before taking over charge, satisfy himself that the cash balances, permanent advance, and accounts are correct, also, as far as possible, that all stock (both general and manufactory), machinery, plant and tools shown by the accounts to be in stock, are forthcoming, and that the registers have been written up to date, and sanction has been obtained for all the establishment employed, and shall report to the Head of Directorate of Prisons that he has done so and the responsibility of the relieved officer shall not cease till the above work is done.
