Section 412: Cases where direction of court shall be followed

The period of imprisonment to be undergone shall be reckoned from the date on which the sentence is passed, except in cases which fall under sections 31, 426 and 427 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act No. 2 of 1974), where the directions of the Court shall be followed.

Explanation: In the case of a prisoner sentenced to imprisonment in default of fine, the period of imprisonment shall be reckoned from the day on which he was arrested for failing to pay the fine imposed.
