Section 35: Disqualification of persons convicted of election offences

Every persons convicted of an offence punishable under Sections 58 to 71 of this Act or under Chapter IX-A of the Indian Penal Code (Central Act XLV of 1860), or is so disqualified by or under any law for the time being in force for the purposes of election to the Legislative Assembly of the State or is disqualified by or under any law for the time being in force, shall be disqualified from voting or from being elected in any election to which this Act applies or from holding the office of President or Member of a Village Panchayat or of the office of Chairman or member of a Panchayat Union Council or a District Panchayat, for a period of 1[six years] from the date of his conviction.
